Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. Brendan Smith has been informed by the HSE that the intended capital expenditure in 2018 for Cavan General Hospital is €460,000.
“The HSE have informed me that €180,000 will be spent on equipment replacement. They further state that €280,000 will be spent on a range of works including single isolation room refurbishments, ventilation – air changes isolation suite, outdoor works, plumbing/heating control panel upgrade, public toilets upgrade and ceiling upgrade in main reception.
It is most regrettable that we have still not got a commitment from the Health Minister or the HSE to a major upgrade and expansion of facilities in the Emergency Department. The increasing attendance of patients on an annual basis at the Emergency Department from Cavan/Monaghan and parts of adjoining counties warrants improved and enlarged accommodation.
This should be a priority for the Health Minister and the HSE as I have clearly stated directly to Minister Harris and his predecessors in Dáil Debates and in direct representations to the HSE”, stated Brendan Smith T.D.
