FUNDING OF €21,600 APPROVED FOR CAVAN UNDER THE QUALITY AND CAPACITY BUILDING INITIATIVE – BRENDAN SMITH T.D.

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. Brendan Smith has welcomed the announcement from the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs that two applicants from Cavan have received funding following 2018 awards for the “Network Support Fund”, a Quality and Capacity Building Initiative (QCBI).  This funding has been supported through Dormont Accounts Funding.

Deputy Smith complimented both Cavan County Childcare Committee and Cavan County Council Arts Office on their great work in helping to improve outcomes for children and young people, to further support them in accessing essential training, workshops, networking and sharing events.

Cavan CCC encourages the development of childcare locally, providing support and advice to parents and practitioners.
The Cavan CCC will hold a workshop for early years’ practitioners to improve the understanding of trauma by supporting children through play.

The aims of Cavan CC Arts Office are

1.        Support artistic excellence and innovation in the arts

2.        Consolidate and build on strategic partnerships across all artforms

3.        Raise the public profile of the arts across County Cavan

4.         Foster public engagement and participation

5.        Strengthen the management and operation of the Arts Office

The funding is to grow their existing Network of key stakeholders: teachers, CYPSC, Cavan Monaghan Mental Health Services, social workers and leaders equipping them through learning, action/research and networking to identify needs, gather data, communicate outcomes and influence strategic policy to ensure that young people are supported through arts interventions to build resilience.   This approach will provide evidence of best practice arts-based approaches for early prevention and intervention for children and families.
