Glad to attend the North East Regional Enterprise Plan Launch in the Cootehill Enterprise & Technology Centre. Great credit is due to the County Cavan Enterprise Fund with good support from Cootehill Area Development on developing this modern work space with excellent facilities.
Delighted that EMCA, a local highly respected company with 40 employees, are the first tenants in the Enterprise Centre. EMCA, established in 1998, will create a further 40 jobs which will be of great benefit to the local community and economy.
Since the late 1990’s there has been a great development of a network of Enterprise Centres throughout Co. Cavan which have contributed very significantly to job creation and in many instances providing essential work space for new businesses. The County Enterprise Fund along with local community groups and Cavan County Council have been to the fore in drawing down substantial state funding over the years to develop these important facilities.
Over the years I have consistently highlighted the importance of developing enterprise centres which I believe are critical to rural development. Through Parliamentary Questions and in other debates in Dáil Éireann I have outlined the importance of the State continuing to support such local initiatives.
