I am glad to have received confirmation from the Minister for Education and Skills of approval for new accommodation for Ballybay Community College.

Delighted to have supported Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board – CMETB detailed application for this much needed accommodation.

Councillor Seamus Coyle has for some years highlighted the need for this building project to be progressed.

Best of luck to CMETB in managing this project which will enhance considerably the school’s accommodation benefiting the wider school community.

Below reply to my most recent Parliamentary Question on this project.

QUESTION

To ask the Minister for Education and Skills the status of a building project application by a school (details supplied); when the project will proceed to the next stage; and if he will make a statement on the matter. (Details Supplied) BALLYBAY COLLEGE, CO MONAGHAN

REPLY

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the school to which he refers was recently approved funding under my Department’s Additional Accommodation Scheme for a standalone extension to its existing accommodation at the school. This extension will include two general classrooms and a science lab and science preparation area.

The project has been devolved for delivery to Cavan Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB). In that context, it is now a matter for CMETB to progress the project, reverting to the Department for approval at certain stages.
