Funding approved for 5 Sensory Gardens in Cavan/Monaghan for persons with Disabilities

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith has welcomed the allocation of funding by the Minister of State, Anne Rabbitte TD of €27,255 towards the development of 5 sensory gardens in Cavan/Monaghan for persons with disabilities.

“I welcome the allocation by the Minister which will enable the development of sensory gardens for people with disabilities.  This funding is being provided to organisations that support children and/or adults with disabilities.

Sensory Gardens are popular with the entire community and are recognised as particularly beneficial for children and adults with disabilities.  The Disabilities Minister in announcing this grant aid states that there is so much evidence that highlights how sensory supports including sensory gardens improve the quality of life for people with disabilities as well as providing an accessible space for them to enjoy.

I congratulate the local services in Cavan and Monaghan who submitted successful applications and I wish them every success in developing these gardens”, stated Brendan Smith TD.
