€1.8 MILLION FOR TOWN AND VILLAGE RENEWAL SCHEME PROJECTS

€1.02 MILLION FOR CAVAN – €763,000 FOR MONAGHAN

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith welcomes the allocation of government funding under the town and village renewal scheme which will enhance facilities in a number of towns and villages in Cavan and Monaghan.

“This is a welcome investment and I compliment Cavan and Monaghan County Councils and the local community groups in putting forward these successful applications which will benefit local communities.

Many of our towns and villages need this investment to improve and extend local facilities and amenities.  This government’s commitment to rural development is clearly evident with the funding of these important projects.  The covid 19 pandemic clearly demonstrated that more and more people can work outside the major urban areas.  All of our rural and urban communities  have considerable infrastructure in place with schools and community facilities and it is important to build on the existing strengths of these areas.

Improving and enhancing existing amenities and providing  new facilities will bring long-term benefits and strengthen the population base of many areas that had suffered through emigration for far too long.  Modern technology and attractive areas to work and live in will contribute significantly to a regeneration of many parts of our country” stated Brendan Smith TD.

Attached is a list of the successful projects for Cavan and Monaghan.
