Community Vaccination Centres Monaghan and Cavan

In accordance with the HSE national operating model for the next phase of the delivery of the vaccination programme over the next number of months there will be a reduction in the number of Vaccination Centres across the country.

We are reducing the number of our large vaccination sites because at this point we believe that we can provide the necessary level of vaccination required for the remainder of 2022 and beyond with a smaller number of sites, supported by local GPs and Pharmacies.

Therefore the following changes will be implemented in Cavan and Monaghan.

The HSE Vaccination Centre in the Glencarn Hotel, Castleblayney, Monaghan will close effective from Monday 23rd of May 2022.

Since it first opened in April 2021 over 62 thousand vaccines have been provided in this centre.

The HSE Vaccination Centre in the Kilmore Hotel, Cavan will close effective from Wednesday 22nd of June 2022.

Since it first opened in April 2021 over 83 thousand vaccines have been provided in this centre.

The current lease agreements for both hotels will cease to operate in accordance with this.

Both Vaccination centres have serviced as key location for the large-scale administration of Covid-19 vaccines  in Counties Monaghan and  Cavan.  We want to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of everyone who was involved in establishing and running of these centres.

Access to Covid vaccinations will be maintained beyond this date by operating temporary Covid-19 vaccination and pop up clinics lead by mobile Vaccination teams.  Our mobile vaccination  teams will also continue to operate within all areas through the summer to continue to deliver vaccination doses to those who are homebound and residents of Long Term Residential Centres (LTRCs).   The HSE will also put a number of pop-up vaccination teams in place that will be available to support particular locations if access to vaccination becomes a challenge.

Pop up outreach clinics have been in operation at various locations throughout Cavan and Monaghan for a number of weeks and will continue to operate as follows.

The HSE wishes to remind all those aged 65 years and over that that they can avail of their second COVID-19 booster vaccine. Those with a weak immune system aged 12 and over can also get their second booster, when it is due.

Those who are now due their second COVID-19 booster vaccine can avail of it as follows:

The HSE encourages everyone in these two groups who have already had their first booster to get their second booster when they become eligible. This second booster will give you the best protection from serious illness caused by COVID-19.

A large number of GPs and pharmacies are now participating in the second COVID-19 booster programme and this participation will continue to grow as the programme rolls out over the coming weeks.
