HSE CAPITAL PROGRAMME – BRENDAN SMITH TD

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith has welcomed confirmation from the Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly, T.D. of €0.5 m in this year’s HSE Capital Programme to progress the planning and design of the major upgrade and extension of the Accident & Emergency Department in Cavan General Hospital.

“I have long advocated for extended and improved facilities in the Emergency Department of Cavan General and it is heartening to see this project make significant progress over the past 18 months.

Minister Donnelly has also confirmed the provision of €0.1 m to purchase a site at the rear of the Primary Care Unit in Virginia

The allocation of €5.1 m to enable the development of a Primary Care Centre at the St. Davnet’s Complex in Monaghan Town is a welcome development and significantly this will include a Mental Health Primary Care Centre for future development of health services.

Accommodation includes a new Endoscopy Suite, (3 No. procedure and 2 No. recovery rooms), ward accommodation, (16 No. single rooms with en-suite including 2 No isolation rooms) and the relocation of the existing Emergency Department (ED). The relocated ED will contain 2 No. Resuscitation bays, 10 No. Major Treatment bays, 6 No. Minors Treatment bays, 3 No. Paediatric and 3 No. isolation rooms). As part of this project an overall hospital electrical and communications upgrade will be required. Project combined with Project Ref 1492, April 2021.0.5
