“I welcome the provision of funding under the government’s Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme to carry out preparatory work on a number of potential projects in Cavan/Monaghan. 

These projects will be based on the potential of developing additional recreational amenities at lakes including Swellan Lough, Lough MacNean, Creevy Lough and Drum Lough. The waterways, both rivers and lakes, are huge natural resources throughout Cavan and Monaghan and their recreational and tourism potential can be put to greater use for both locals and visitors with the planned development of new amenities”, stated Deputy Brendan Smith.
