Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith has been informed by the HSE and the RCSI Hospital Group that a Consultant Cardiologist has commenced at Cavan General Hospital.

Deputy Brendan Smith has welcomed this appointment which is on a shared basis with Beaumont Hospital.  He added that the provision of specialist services in conjunction with a tertiary hospital such as Beaumont has benefits for patients

The reply to Brendan Smith from the RCSI followed on from his Parliamentary Questions to the Minister for Health regarding the need to provide specialist cardiology services.
