Closure of Kozy Shack

Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D. Brendan Smith has expressed his serious disappointment with the news that Kozy Shack will close within the next few weeks.

Deputy Smith told The Northern Standard that the closure of Kozy Shack is a huge blow to the 27 employees and their families.  He stated that this news follows on from the closure of other important enterprises with job losses as well, particularly in the food area in Cavan/Monaghan, where substantial employment opportunities have now been lost.

Deputy Smith stated that Kozy Shack manufactured fresh dairy-based pudding desserts of a very high quality and unfortunately changes in the market place caused this company to close.  He complimented the workforce on the quality of their work and their commitment to the company.

“I have tabled a Parliamentary Question to the Minister for Enterprise and Jobs requesting that his Department and the State’s Industrial Promotion Agencies take some particular initiatives to create additional and much needed new jobs in the Monaghan area and also assist in supporting existing employment in view of the loss of such important jobs over the past 12 months”, stated the Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil T.D.
