“I welcome €0.6 Million in Minor Works grant payments to primary schools in Cavan
and €0.5 Million to Monaghan schools and also the allocation of €1.2 Million in ICT
grants for primary and post-primary schools in Cavan/Monaghan.
The minor building works payments are vital in supporting primary and special
schools with regard to maintenance needs. Maintaining school buildings to a proper
standard is essential.
The ICT funding will enable schools to avail of the opportunities that technology
presents.
These grants are very important in supporting schools to meet the ongoing
challenges that have arisen due to increased costs over recent years. I have
repeatedly raised with the Department of Education the need to increase the level of
grant aid for our smaller schools,” stated Brendan Smith TD.
